Youth to Health Careers (Y₂HC) Summer Enrichment Program

Math & Science Summer Instructors Needed

To teach one of the following areas:

· Pre-calculus, Calculus

· Algebra with Statistics

· Geometry

· Trigonometry

· Intro to Sciences

· Chemistry

· Biology

· Anatomy & Physiology,

· Physics

LOCATION: BAHEC, 729 Mass Ave., Miranda Creamer Bldg. (Mass. Ave. & Albany, near BMC)

SUPERVISOR: Education Coordinator/BAHEC Director

Rate: $31.25/hour (additional paid for preparation time)

HOURS: Part Time 2-6 Hours/Week

DAYS/TIMES: TBD: Class days run from 9AM-3:30 pm, Mondays-Wednesdays

DATES: July 8, 2013 – August 7, 2013

Responsibilities:

Plan and implement Science and Math curriculum geared towards Boston Middle/High School Students interested in Health Professions.
Link curriculum to MA Department of Education’s Standards and Frameworks
Maintain accurate attendance records.
Maintain regular communication with Education Coordinator(s) regarding student progress.
Complete mid-program and final evaluations of students and program.
Instructors are encouraged to attend a field trip/special event during the course of the program.
Attend paid Instructor workshop/meetings on planning, developing, and training activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree, MA/MS preferred.
Teaching experience.
Experience working effectively with students and staff of various cultures and linguistic backgrounds.
Experience working with adolescents preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Bilingual/multicultural skills preferred, but not necessary.
Creativity and ability to foster curiosity.
Ability to facilitate professional and interactive atmosphere.
